SLU Summer Scholars

Sophomores and juniors, mark your calendars!  This year, SLU Summer Scholars will be held June 19 – 23, 2017!  Please see application instructions below.

SLU Summer Scholars is an exclusive college exposure program for graduates of St. Louis NativityMiguel schools, including graduates of ACCESS Academies. Sponsored by De La Salle, Inc. and coordinated by the St. Louis Graduate Support network, all rising juniors and seniors are encouraged and eligible to apply for admittance.

In its eighth year, SLU Summer Scholars Academy offers students the opportunity to prepare for college through actual experience on a university campus. The Summer Scholars Academy is a 5-day, 4-night program held at Saint Louis University. Students reside in SLU dormitories, complete a college application, begin writing the college application essay, create a detailed, practical timeline for junior and senior years, as well as gain lifelong friends who share similar future educational goals. There will also be plenty of opportunities for FUN! Activities have included bowling, catching a show at the Moolah, and even cheering for the Cardinals live from Busch stadium.

Over 200 NativityMiguel graduates will receive applications, but only 60 will be selected to receive scholarships to cover the cost of attending. Applicants who hope to be selected as a SLU Summer Scholar should possess the following: a strong desire to be admitted to college, a strong desire to finish college, self-motivation, the ability to work collaboratively, and the aspiration to grow personally. Ideal candidates will have a minimum 2.75 GPA and be enrolled in a college preparatory high school.
